New Art!

Hey everyone! Here's my first artistic endeavour of the year, but before I elaborate on it, some other stuff:

1. A big THANK YOU! goes out to Blogs of Note for putting my humble blog on their list, and by doing so directing a rediculous amount of people here!:S It's defenitely very motivating to read all your comments, forgive me for not having responded to all messages and questions yet, I'm still getting to them as things have been quite busy for me lately.
2. I finally updated my Cartoon Blog aswell, I did 7 new pendrawings during my christmas break, take a look at http://pensketches.blogspot.com/
3. Also, make sure you visit the blog of good friend and collegue Daniel Ernst at http://itcamefrombeyond.blogspot.com/, if you like my stuff, well, you'll love his! :)

About the painting:
It's a miracle I managed to finish it, as this image has been on my harddrive for months. I hardly go back to images I've lost interest in, but I opened up this one during my christmas holidays, and decided to make one last effort. The image is a result of me playing too many games like TombRaider and Uncharted, which inspired me to come up with this image. My goal was to create an image that would introduce my own temple looting character, and also show a glympse of possible gameplay. I struggled most with the background and how to get the perspective right, it wasn't untill I tilted the horizon that things started to look like something :)
I'm also still looking for a cool name for this character, so if you have a suggestion, let me know! :D

-Edwin

EDIT 09-02-2011: An AWESOME 5 page comic story was written around this character by Shaun at penciljack.com! Check it out here !

I wonder how many sketches like these great one are still on your harddrive! I've a suggestion for her name, what about "Fiore" or "Bunga"?, sounds good to me, C

This is some truely amazing art. I am currently going to school for web design and am looking for lots of different techniques. How did you create this magnificent painting?

well, I don't think my insight will be of any great use, but the character reminds me of the ancient greek goddess of hunt, ARTEMIS. She was supposed to be the queen of mountains and forests. Her name could be the basis. Although "Fiore" sounds as good.

She reminds me of a character in a game I own, 'Kya: Dark Lineage'.
I think this art is amazing. The more I look at it, the more I can feel a story behind it.
I love it.

I like Artemis, but would shorten it to "Artie". She has quite slim upper arms, but looks like a fun gal!

Lena, Liz, Kai, Gaya, something fun like that, and Fiore is pretty cool too. I'm used to love playing TombRaider and love anykind of action game with a female lead. This looks really good, but I like it flipped like it is on the blog's title(ya know, how you have it now. YOu are soo great! Did you go to school for this and what do you do?? ps.I'm an aspiring animator.

I really love all your stuff! You did a god job conveying the tomb raider thing. I love the look in the characters eye. It is like they are up to no good and loving it!

This is incredible! I've been struggling with a perspective shot like this and tilting the horizon is something I hadn't even considered. Thank you so much for sharing your art!

Names? Hm. I like Riley or Leslie.
