Project Shine | Visual development

Visual development - Depressed Newsstand
Visual development - Shine street
Here's some more work done for my personal project 'Shine', some of you have already seen a glimpse of these images in my online sketchbook.

Idea behind this image is that everything in this depressed world is affected; visualized here by the clouds above the Newsstand guy and his customer, but also in all the magazine covers.

Shine street
An image I've been working on for a while, but fortunately came together in the end. Depicted is the main character (the only happy guy), still trying to go by his normal shoeshine business as the world around him is getting more and more grim. I tried to give the depressed characters gradations in depression, visualized in normal clouds, rainclouds and thunderclouds. :)

That's it for now, back to work! -Edwin

I really do love these sketches - the atmosphere they create takes me back to my childhood days.
